One Spring my Mum scattered seeds she’d gathered over a barren berm on the edge of my garden. Within days the seeds germinated to lovely little green plants that blossomed a snapdragon-looking flower. Purely by accident, I saw a noxious weed poster with a mug shot of my pretty yellow flower: Dalmation Toadflax. What was growing in my garden was a wretched weed that if left in the ground would smother the plants and grasses around it! This was my first introduction to non-native, invasive plants.
This week’s Gardening: Get Good at It will provide the incredible insights into what it means to be an invasive plant.
